Why All The Naked Bike Riders?
Yesterday I had a good chuckle when I saw Morgan’s (from The Little Hen House) AWESOME picture of some naked bike riders in what was clearly the waterfront of San Francisco. Morgan is on a solo trip to the Bay Area to visit some friends and apparently she got an eyeful. Read her post here.

While this image made me smile, I kind of thought to myself… “ha ha, so San Francisco!”
But then I saw this picture:
Which is clearly London. (photo by James Guppy via Flickr) so I thought… coincidence?
Probably not… so I went to try to figure out what the heck was going on and why Morgan was exposed to naked bums on her visit to our great city.
Well Morgan, apparently yesterday was World Naked Bike Ride Day and over 70 cities in 20 different countries participated.
Why???
Well, the groups want to raise awareness that biking is a lot less dirty than their bums. Well, that’s what one guy said at least. Here’s the official WNBR site’s slogan;
The groups are only connected by their determination to all be naked on their bikes on WNBR Day, riding in celebration, jubilation to deliver a vision of a cleaner, safer, body-positive world to the masses.
So it’s part environmentalist, part nudist, part just have fun.
Here are some other excellent pics from yesterday’s WNBR Day!
London….
And this one, which is Montreal… This one is by Andree Dubiel, on his blog Nude in Montreal.
This poster from Chicago:
New York was I guess postponed due to rain and then cold (they will try again in July) but one guy was rode anyway.
And this little video from London. Hands down, London has the most hardcore bike riders and nudist. I’m not adding this to my bucket list any time soon but I couldn’t help thinking that all the Bay to Breakers people have another event to be naked in. YAY!
